My art career began at the tender age of 10 when my best friend and I started a summer arts camp for the neighborhood kids.
In the years that ensued, my pursuit of art deepened as I studied at Tufts, got my teaching certificate, and became an elementary/middle school art teacher. I continued my studies at The Art Studio in Mill Valley CA, and at the SF Art Institute.
Initially I produced silkscreen and painted designs for the juvenile market and was nationally represented and distributed by Balangier Designs and Green Frog Art. My silkscreen designs won the Parent’s Choice Award, were featured in the book The Perfect Home by Joseph Carroll, and also on TV’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
I traded in my silkscreen for stretched canvas 15+ years ago, and in that time my work has continued to evolve from representational toward the expressionistic, plein air landscapes I am currently exploring. I am inspired by the beautiful natural landscapes of Cape Ann and seek to capture the essence of these landscapes using only bold strokes of a palette knife and layers of vivid color.
